Cardinia Shire Council Elections 2020
My name is Chris Andrews and I am seeking your support for election to the Bunyip Ward of the Cardinia Shire Council.

My family of 5 children, my partner and I live in Iona where we raise cattle. My partner and I also work at all four of our offices but mainly at our Pakenham or Drouin offices. I am a Barrister and Solicitor; a former member of Victoria Police having served 10 years at various police stations and as an instructor at the Police Academy for 3 years. I am also a veteran having served in the Australian Army for over 20 years extensively in Special Forces and after working my way up through the ranks retired as a Warrant Officer. I am involved in the local community and am a former member of Rotary and other service groups. I am particularly interested in those in our society that are disadvantaged or marginalised with a focus on gender imbalance, woman’s rights and veterans.
I am running for council simply because I feel that council could have done better in recent years and there is a need for new blood in council rather than the same people who have been in there for years running yet again and nothing really changing. I am an independent candidate, not a member of any political party, and interested in only making decisions in the best interests of local families and businesses. I believe in good governance to build a strong, vibrant community and an efficient and effective shire. Bunyip Ward comprises of several small country townships and wonderful people. Its many local sports clubs and community groups, childcare providers, roads priorities, availability, and quality of various council services and importantly, the rates imposed on ratepayers would be well served by strong advocacy to the Shire and other levels of government. In these uncertain times, the added responsibility of assisting the community and business through the rebuilding process post COVID 19 will need to be a focus as restrictions lift. Rejuvenating the local economy, supporting local businesses which provide local jobs and remodelling council’s operations and services to be Covid safe will require good planning, leadership, eagle eyed oversight, and efficiencies within an environment or rate constraint. If honoured with your vote, my duty as a councillor is to pursue and achieve these goals on your behalf. I have demonstrated community involvement, legal knowledge, business, and leadership skills to represent you and your family as your local councillor.
To support me, vote 1 for Chris Andrews and ensure that you place a number in each box on your ballot paper.
